COLTON –In addition to the cross-country ski opportunities available every day, there will be light refreshments, ski lessons, a gear sale and swap, and a bonfire to toast marshmallows, at Higley Flow State Park Sunday, Jan. 20.
The park offers many miles of groomed and track set ski and snowshoe trails. The trails are open until sunset every day and the lodge, with heated bathrooms, available snacks, microwave and a cozy warming room is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rentals are available at the park maintenance building at no charge to kids under 7 years of age and $7 for the day for adults.
St. Lawrence University’s XC ski team will offer beginner lessons and also for more advanced skiers. Lessons are by appointment: Judy Fuhr at jfuhr@twcny.rr.com by Saturday, Jan. 19.
If you have gear to sell, bring it to the lodge by 10 a.m.
In addition, just down the road at the Fish and Game Club on Cold Brook Drive, there will be free sleigh rides offered by Double H Percherons, sponsored by Kuno Oil from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m.
