POTSDAM -- Seedcorn's Sustainable Living Project (SLP) has announced another in its series of Summer of Sustainability events, Home Food-Waste Composting for the Creative Garden, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 14 at a location to be announced.

The workshop will feature construction of a working compost pile with long-time doyenne of decomposition, Janet Lomastro of Potsdam. A compost pile will be built from scratch by attendees and various options, including some unconventional ideas, will be discussed. Lomastro will present a guided tour of her riverside gardens and discuss her transition from pure "permaculture" principles to a version of the natural gardening practice suitable to her space and place.

Space at the workshop is limited. A donation of any size to the project is appreciated, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. This workshop filled up in June so an RSVP soon is suggested. The workshop location will be included in an RSVP confirmation notice. Rain date is Sunday at noon.

To RSVP, call 347-4223 or email SustLivingProject@gmail.com.

For more details, visit: www.SustainableLivingProject.net The workshop is one of a series of “open learning events” culminating in a harvest-time Local Living Festival and Green Homes and Gardens Tours, to be held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm in Canton Sept. 25 and 26.
