CANTON – “Shawna’s Walk for Wishes,” in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, takes place Saturday, Oct. 1 at St. Lawrence University’s outdoor track.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walk starts at 10. Immediately following the walk there will be refreshments, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.
This will be the second annual Shawna’s Walk, dedicated to help Shawna Cummings “give back” after she was granted a wish to visit Disney World in 2008.
The walk last year raised $12,000, enough for two wishes from St. Lawrence County kids, and they hope to match or beat that total this year. All the money raised will be donated to Make-A-Wish of Central New York to help grant wishes of St. Lawrence County children who are diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.
