Sexual harassment prevention training for businesses, non-profits on two dates in Canton

CANTON -- Sexual harassment prevention training sessions for small and medium-sized businesses and non-profits will be held Jan. 24 and Feb. 28 in Canton.

The sessions are designed to meet new state mandates that employers and employees must complete interactive training for sexual harassment prevention prior to Oct. 9.

The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Northern Insuring Agency Inc. to provide two training sessions as an opportunity for employers and employees to meet these new guidelines.

A session is $20 per person for St. Lawrence County Chamber members and $30 per person for non-chamber members.

Those attending will receive a certificate of completion and all necessary documentation for their employer.

“This new mandate requires every employee in New York State to obtain training,” said Brooke Rouse, SLC Chamber executive director.

“We realize that owners and managers may not feel comfortable conducting the training in-house. By offering the sessions, we hope it allows all of our businesses and non-profits to meet the requirements without having to close their businesses or travel far distances. We are also happy to connect businesses with trainers, host sessions in other communities or arrange for larger group training sessions if multiple companies want to share the cost of a full training for their staff,” she said.

The session on Jan. 24 will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at the St. Lawrence County IDA, 19 Commerce Lane, Suite 1, Canton. Registration for this event is required and can be completed online at http://bit.ly/Training_24th, or by calling 315-386-4000.

The Feb. 28 session will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at the St. Lawrence-Lewis Boces, 40 W. Main St., Canton. Registration for this event is required and can be completed online at http://bit.ly/Training_28th, or by calling 315-386-4000.
