CANTON – Cornell Cooperative Extension, 2043B State Highway 68, is hosting the workshop “Save the Berries! Managing Spotted Wing Drosophila” on Thursday, March 15, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Best Western in Canton.
Ever since a tiny Asian fly called the spotted-wing drosophila (SWD) was “discovered” in New York in 2012, growers of cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and other berries have been battling this fruit-destroying pest.
Home gardeners and commercial growers are invited to learn about new management methods.
The cost to attend is $20 which includes lunch and materials.
