Rock & roll, country, teen pop all coming up at New York State Fair through Sept. 6

SYRACUSE – Whether you’re a rock & roller, a country stalwart or in love with a teen idol, there’s a musical performance to suit you at this year’s New York State Fair at the Syracuse fairgrounds, now through Sept. 6.

Thursday night, Aug. 26, veteran rockers Aerosmith will perforrm classics such as "Dream On" and "Walk This Way" at the Mohegan Sun Grandstand at 7:30 p.m., and R&B quartet En Vogue will give a free show at 2 p.m. at the Chevy Court.

Friday night, Aug. 27, features comedy ventriloquist Jeff Dunham at the Mohegan Sun Grandstand at 8 p.m., and classic progressive rock group Kansas at 8 p.m. for a free show at the Chevy Court.

The rest of the fair's 2010 grandstand concert series includes rhythm and blues star Rihanna at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28; teen pop sensation Justin Bieber and supporting acts Sean Kingston and Jessica Jarrell will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 29; legendary classic rock band Rush will play at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2; Tim McGraw with Montgomery Gentry will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3; and country music star Rascal Flatts with supporting acts Kellie Pickler and Chris Young will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 4.

Celebrity chef Mario Batali will turn New York-produced ingredients into culinary works of art on the Chevy Court stage 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1. A book signing is planned from 12-1 p.m. prior to the demonstration.

Also performing at the daily free-with-admission Chevy Court shows are Food Network star Adam Richman at 2 p.m. Aug. 28; classic rock legend Styx at 8 p.m. Aug. 28; unique country vocalists Trailer Choir at 2 p.m. Aug. 29; high-energy rockers Blues Traveler at 8 p.m. Aug. 29; renowned Sinatra tribute singer Steve Lippia with the CNY Jazz Orchestra at 2 p.m. Aug. 30; rock group 30 Seconds to Mars at 8 p.m. Aug. 30; 1960s pop sensation Herman's Hermits featuring Peter Noone at 2 p.m. Aug. 31; one of the world's best Beatles bands "1964"...The Tribute at 8 p.m. Aug. 31; rising country music band Lady Antebellum at 8 p.m. Sept. 1; country group Eli Young Band at 2 p.m. Sept. 2; country music quartet Little Big Town at 8 p.m. Sept. 2; up-and-coming country singer Justin Moore at 2 p.m. Sept. 3; progressive hard rock band Coheed and Cambria at 8 p.m. Sept. 3; teen singer and actor Mitchel Musso at 2 p.m. Sept. 4; funk and soul artists Robert Randolph & the Family Band at 8 p.m. Sept. 4; "American Idol" finalist Katharine McPhee at 2 p.m. Sept. 5; rhythm and blues performer Keith Sweat at 8 p.m. Sept. 5; roadhouse-rock band Jackyl at 2 p.m. Sept. 6, and soulful singer-songwriter Marc Broussard at 8 p.m. Sept. 6.

Other grandstand events include the New York State Tractor Pulling Championship in sessions at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 5, and the New York State Championship Demolition Derby at 5 p.m. Sept. 6.
