OGDENSBURG -- The Pro Musica Chorus, will present their 50th Christmas concert on Monday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Ford and Franklin streets.
The choral group is celebrating its 50th year since its founding in 1967 by Harold "Sally" Bibbens, who was the director for many years.
The name chosen for the group was "Pro Musica" which means "for music.” Bibbens hoped to encourage choral music in the community and the schools, group officials said.
Currently the chorus is under the direction of Richard Patton, accompanied by Christine Bookman.
An evening of traditional and modern carols will be performed by 40 enthusiastic singers.
To highlight the evening, Pro Musica will be joined by a chorus of children from Madill and Kennedy elementary schools.
A donation of $5, or any offering will be accepted toward the scholarships given to graduating students of five area high schools.
