POTSDAM -- The Clarkson University Gaming Club and Gamer Craze will host Magic players for the pre-release for Gatecrash Saturday, Jan. 26 and Sunday, Jan. 27.
The pre-release will be held in the Educational Resources Center on campus.
Magic: The Gathering was the first trading card game, created in 1993. Gatecrash is an expansion set scheduled to be released Feb. 1.
The main event will be a sealed deck tournament, with players given a guild box to create a minimum of a 40-card deck and play.
Registration will be $25 with prizes to the top 16 players. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Packs will go out an hour after registration.
The club hopes to have the most registrants in the state, aiming to top 400 for the pre-release. Attendees from all over New York are expected, as the prize pool is the largest in the state. At the last pre-release hosted by the club over $1,000 in prize support went to the top four contestants, with more than $500 in door prizes.
Cash is preferred for registration, but store credit, campus cards and Visa and MasterCards will be accepted at the Gamer-Craze, 47 Main St., Canton for pre-registration. Registration is also available at www.gamer-craze.com.
