“Kaddish for a Friend,” by filmmaker Leo Khasin, will be shown.
The film tells the story of a Russian Jewish World War II veteran and a Palestinian teen who form an unlikely friendship.
Teenager Ali was taught to hate Jews, and when his family relocates to Germany he tries to gain acceptance with Arab peers by targeting an elderly Russian Jew. When he is forced to apologize the two form a friendship.
The film is based on actual events and depicts the importance of understanding.
Elun Gabriel of St. Lawrence University will introduce the film.
