POTSDAM -- Potsdam Youth Basketball signs up young people for the upcoming season at the A. A. Kingston Middle School lobby from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.

All local boys and girls in grades K- 6 are eligible for the program. No prior experience is necessary.

Program costs vary by grade. For children in grades 2 through 6, the cost is $45 for the first player and $20 for each additional player in the same family, with a $75 maximum per family. Scholarships are available for those who would like to apply. Practices start the week of Oct. 17.

The cost for kindergarten and first grade players is $25 per child. They will participate in Saturday morning practices only starting Oct. 22.

All players will receive a PYBA T-shirt.

Mail-in registration is also available. Late registrations will be subject to a $10 fee. Applications can be mailed to PYBA, PO Box 96, Potsdam, NY 13676. Visit www.potsdamyouthbasketball.com to download a registration form.

A mandatory meeting for parents with children enrolled in the program will be held the first night of practice, so parents and guardians should make a note of that.

The PYBA Saturday Morning League, open to all local 5th and 6th grade boys’ and girls’ teams, has an emphasis on equal participation. That tips off Saturday, Nov. 5.

For more information, contact Scott Langlois, PYBA president at 244-0770 or Joe Bartenstein 566-9054, or log onto www.potsdamyouthbasketball.com.

In existence for over 25 years, the Potsdam Youth Basketball Association has served as the foundation for the traditionally strong Potsdam Central boys' and girls' varsity basketball programs. Teaching of the fundamental skills, learning team concepts, and enjoying the game of basketball are emphasized throughout the program.
