POTSDAM -- The Potsdam VFW Post 1194, 95 Market St., will host several events to honor veterans during Memorial Day weekend.
Meet the post for coffee and donuts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 28. The placing of new flags on graves of fall comrades will take place. All veterans and volunteers welcome.
A 21-gun salute honors will be held at local cemeteries starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 29.
A Memorial Day parade is set for Monday, May 30, at 9 a.m. Parade lineup is at the Potsdam high school. The parade ends at the Ives Park Gazebo.
The parade will follow the traditional route down from Leroy to Cottage Street and then turning left onto Main Street where it will continue to Ives Park, behind the Clarkson University Inn.
There will be a guest speaker and a 21-gun salute.
A BBQ will follow at the VFW for all veterans, guests and family members. There will be grilled food, salads and more provided by the ladies auxiliary.
