POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St., will host the following events and programs from Aug. 30-Sept. 12.
Children's Programs
Children’s programs are run and/or organized by children’s librarian Rebecca Donnelly, and held in the mezzanine, the upstairs play space located at the back of the Potsdam Public Library. For more information email rdonnelly@potsdamlibrary.org or call 315-265-7230.
• Curious Cubs Storytime, Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Stories, rhymes, and movement activities to build early literacy skills for ages 2 and up. Younger siblings welcome.
Teen programs
• Manga Club meets, Tuesday, Sept. 4, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Tech programs
• Introduction to Computers, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1-3 p.m. Create and manage files and folders, understand nature of data and learn to safeguard it, cut copy and paste, create and use pdf files.
Ongoing programs
• Drop-in Chess Club, every Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. Drop in for part or all of these popular casual chess meets. All experience levels welcome.
• Game Night, every Thursday, 5-8 p.m. Drop in for part or all of this board game event for all ages. The library will supply some games but feel free to bring along your favorite.
• Podcast Studio. The library has everything you need to make a professional-quality sound recording. Book podcasting sessions by emailing tech@potsdamlibrary.org. Details at potsdamlibrary.org/content/podcast-studio. Video blogging set-up also available, including pro lighting, tripods, cameras, Final Cut.
• Library Tours, first Wednesday of the month at noon. Tours are led by Sarah Sachs, Public Service Manager and Director of LIFE (Literacy Is For Everyone). Reserve a tour time by emailing ssachs@potsdamlibrary.org or calling 315-265-7230.
• Purl Jam Knitting Group, Monday, Sept. 17, 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. in the group lab; meetings are held the third Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m. Students share their passion for knitting while learning how to use online resources to enhance their work. Literacy and ESL
• ESL Class with Maria Morrison, village community room (above police dept.), every Monday, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Conversation, pronunciation, American culture, and topics students want to bring to the class. For more information, email mmorrison@potsdamlibrary.org.
• Improving Skills for New English Speakers, village community room (above police dept.), every Tuesday, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. New English speakers use online sources to improve listening skills and fluency. Class will resume Sept. 11. Registration: bgordon@potsdamlibrary.org, 315-265-7230.
