POTSDAM -- Potsdam native John North will perform with his band Delta Sierra at McDuff’s Pub in Potsdam Friday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m.

Potsdam’s Dean Thorton will open for Delta Sierra with a solo set of original tunes, said North.

There is a $5 cover.

Delta Sierra, based in Ithaca, recently produced the album “Grown-up Situations” (to be released later this fall on Ancient Phrase Records) and is undertaking small regional tours around the state to promote the recording, North said.

“Grown-Up Situations” is a song cycle focused on aging that was recorded live to tape by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago.

Delta Sierra performs heavy and patient rock music with dense droning instrumentals centered around plaintive vocals with raw and direct lyrics. Most obvious descendants of Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Magnolia Electric Co, Delta Sierra also call to mind the spirit of lyrical, guitar heavy bar bands such as The Hold Steady and Lucero.
