POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Local Heroes will take on the Harlem Ambassadors in a family-friendly comedy basketball show at 4 p.m. at the Potsdam High School gym on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Event proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Potsdam to raise money for their youth clubs, scholarships and community projects.

"We have scoured the region for skilled – and sometimes unskilled – players to take on the powerful Ambassadors, "said Marcy Adams.

"What our team lacks in skill, they make up for in heart. Buy your tickets today and you'll be able to witness how our enthusiastic local talent stacks up against the Ambassadors. It's going to be a match-up we won't soon forget."

The Harlem Ambassadors' shows generally feature high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, comedy, music, dancing, audience participation, and free autographs after the show.

The traveling team has performed more than 2,800 comedy basketball shows as fundraising and community entertainment events for non-profit organizations, the U.S. military and community service groups since 1998.

These events have helped raise over $10 million for communities in 50 states and 20 countries.

The Ambassadors have performed at Pearl Harbor, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sarejevo, Korea, Japan, the Marshall Islands, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Georgia, Mexico, Germany, England and Canada.

“We're proud to give communities quality family entertainment that parents, grandparents and kids can enjoy together and make memories that last a lifetime,” Harlem Ambassadors president Dale Moss said.

"Even people who aren't basketball fans love our show because it's two hours of fun and laughter for a great cause. Plus, where else can you see your neighbor, your co-worker, your granddaughter's coach, or your son's teacher play against professional athletes? This is an event you do not want to miss. "

Advance tickets are $10 and free for children under four.

At the door, tickets will be $15 for adults, $12 for kids and free for children under four.

Tickets are on sale at The Potsdam Chamber, Potsdam IGA, Kinney Drug in Canton and on Maple Street in Potsdam.

The event is additionally sponsored by SeaComm FCU, Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Plaice 2 Meat, and Hampton Inn.
