POTSDAM – The Potsdam Public Library, Park Street, is hosting the following classes and events.
The annual End of Year Magazines Giveaway is underway. The library will be giving awat 2016 magazines to make room for 2018. Check out the list of the Library's magazines near the front desk where patrons can sign up for specific magazine titles they wish to take home. Titles are on a first come, first serve basis. Anything left over will end up in the lobby.
The next talk in the Deep Dive Discussions series will concern health insurance on Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 6:30-8 p.m., in the village community room. NCPR’s Lauren Rosenthal will lead a roundtable discussion with local experts on the topic, including Brett Smith, Canton-Potsdam Hospital benefits coordinator; Kerry Tallon, Navigator program coordinator at the St. Lawrence Health Initiative; Janelle Jacobsen, assistant professor and MS Community Health Program coordinator at SUNY Potsdam; and Sheryl Evans, support services navigator at ACR Health. Introduction to Computers will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., in the Cleveland Computer Center, in the library basement. Registration is required by email or phone: bgordon@potsdamlibrary.org or 315-265-7230. Class is taught using Windows 10 and MS Office 2010.
Drop-in Chess Club is held every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Game Night is held every Thursday, from 5-8 p.m.
Curious cubs storytime will be held Jan. 3 and 10 at 10:30 a.m.; wiggly worms storytime Thursday, Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m.; Spanish storytime, Saturday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m.; and little bees family storytime will be held Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. The children’s programs are run and/or organized by the children’s librarian, Rebecca Donnelly.
