POTSDAM -- The Kiwanis Club will hold a fundraiser Dec. 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Potsdam McDonalds.

A percentage of sales during that time period will be donated to the club. Kris Kringle will be on hand to greet everyone, talk to the kids, and tell stories.

“There will also be a couple activities for kids as they wait to speak with the man in red,” said club president Marylee Ballou.

The club is a service organization focused on the youth of the community by supporting the club’s youth service leadership programs in the Potsdam schools like K-kids, Builders and Key Club.

“Our club is one of 256 clubs across New York State,” said Ms. Ballou.

The club also gives out a scholarship to a graduating senior from Potsdam High School every year, organizes the Rag-A-Muffin parade with the fire department, and supports a reading/book program with the Potsdam and Parishville Head Start program in partnership with the Potsdam Library.

“We are always looking for people interested in making a difference to the youth of our community by becoming club members and bringing their ideas and energy to us,” said Ballou.

The club will resume its meetings in January. They meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Potsdam Ponderosa at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in joining can contact Ballou at meballoukiwanis@yahoo.com.
