Potsdam Central students to hold concert Jan. 20

POTSDAM -- Potsdam Central School student musicians will present a concert Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium.

The Concert Band will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams short "Flourish for Wind Band" and "A Percy Grainger Suite," which includes the tunes "Country Gardens," "Irish Tune from County Derry," and "Molly on the Shore." The Band will finish its part of the program with "Winds of Morocco" by Robert Sheldon.

The Treble Choir will sing "Let Beauty Awake" by Laura Farnell, "When I Am Silent" by Joan Varner, "A Girl's Garden," from Randall Thompson's Frostiana, "Morning's Innocent" by Gwyneth Walker and "All That Jazz" from the show, "Chicago."

The Symphonic Orchestra will play "Song of Jupiter," a Leroy Anderson orchestration of "Where 'ere you walk" by Handel, an arrangement of the first movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony and "Romance," a recent composition by Ralph Ford.

The concert is free, and the public is invited.
