Potsdam and St. Lawrence figure skating clubs to hold ice shows this weekend

Ashley Anderson, Stephanie Kearing, Haley Clark, Emily Sloan, Courtney Saumier, Katie Pierce, Kennedy Hayes, Katie Travis, Janelle Trombley, Jazmine Trombley, Alyssa Sloan and Sarah Lavigne are members of the Potsdam Figure Skating Club.

The Potsdam and St. Lawrence figure skating clubs will both hold ice shows this weekend.

The Potsdam Figure Skating Club will present their annual ice show Friday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Cheel Arena, Clarkson University. This year’s theme will be a “Road Trip” visiting several different cities and states.

The St. Lawrence County Figure Skaters Club will in turn hold their 60th anniversary “Somewhere in Time” ice show March 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Appleton Arena.

Potsdam’s graduating seniors Katie Pierce, Potsdam; Emily Sloan, Parishville-Hopkinton; Mike DiMatteo, St. Lawrence Central and Courtney Saumier, St. Lawrence Central, will skate their final solos.

Haley Clark, Stephanie Kearing and Janelle Trombley will also perform solos.

Special routines will be performed by Sarah Lavigne and Makayla Reed; Ashley Anderson and Alyssa Sloan; Jazmine Trombley, Kennedy Hayes and Breanna Cardinal.

The Potsdam club’s young badge skaters will celebrate New Orleans, Florida and Roswell, New Mexico, among others.

The Potsdam club coaches are Karen Healey, Alicia Walter, Lisa Cardinal, Emily Sloan and Jacqueline Miller.

Several area synchronous skating teams will also perform in the Potsdam show.

St. Lawrence’s show will start with the “SPS 2 & 3” groups, who will perform to “How Much is that Doggie in the Window” and “Hound Dog.”

The “basic 2” group will perform to music from “Toy Story.” The “basic 3” group will perform to “Happy Days,” followed by “I Dream of Jeannie” for the “basic 4” group.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” will be featured with the “basic 5” group.

“Thriller” will provide the backdrop for the “basic 6-8” group.

The St. Lawrence pre-juvenile team will perform to “Footloose” and the juvenile group will perform to “You Should be Dancing” and “Y.M.C.A.”

The senior group will perform to “Single Ladies.”

St. Lawrence’s graduating seniors include Elizabeth Parker, Emma Rexford and Holly Fanning.

St. Lawrence team coaches include Emily Rexford, Lizzie Bastien, Holly Fanning, Shannon Flanagan, Jackie Miller, Shannon Flanagan, Alicia Walter, Jacqueline Miller, Tara Bartlett and Alica Walter.

Group moms include Sarah McDonough, Jennifer Tarner, Melissa Lawrence, Amanda White, Crissy Martin, Kay Zimmer, Heather Stevenson, Trudy Foote, Tammy Mullin and Sarah Franklin.

Potsdam tickets can be purchased in advance from any club member or at the door. Tickets will be $7 each, with children 3 and under free.

Tickets to the St. Lawrence show will be $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students.
