Pharmacist Dr. Jay Delisle to speak with fibromyalgia support group

POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s fibromyalgia support group will meet Tuesday, April 5, from noon to 1 p.m., at 59 Main St., Clarkson Hall in room 2003.

Pharmacist Dr. Jay Delisle will speak on fibromyalgia medications, their side effects and interactions.

People with fibromyalgia often take multiple medications, a situation called “polypharmacy.”

The situation is often worse because people with FM often have multiple other conditions for which they also take medications.

Polypharmacy increases the risk of adverse events and interactions, including falls, dizziness, trouble concentrating, and other physical symptoms.

Anyone with a chronic condition is welcome as are friends and family.

The support group is held under the direction of Leslie Russek, associate professor in Clarkson University’s Physical Therapy Department and physical therapist specializing in chronic pain management at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
