Aired on May 23 and 24 at 7 pm, Peak Moment host Janaia Donaldson meets with Daniel Lerch, co-editor of The Post Carbon Reader, to explore diminishing energy supplies in the face of growing population and economic demands.

The Post Carbon Institute is one voice in the 21st century's global sustainability crisis. Their team of experts and leaders speak about the complexity of the interconnected challenges facing the world.

How do population, water, energy, food, and climate issues impact one another? What can we do to address one problem without making the others worse? The Post Carbon Reader features essays by some provocative thinkers on issues such as renewable energy, urban agriculture, social justice, and community resilience. This collection takes a hard-nosed look at the interconnected threats of our global sustainability quandary and presents some promising responses. http://www.postcarbon.org/reader

Now in its third year, the Peak Moment programs air every week at 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Channel 30. Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times. The programs are underwritten locally by The Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University and the Seymour Family of Potsdam.

The May Peak Moment shows conclude May 30 and 31 with “Peak Oil — Adapting for Big Changes Ahead.”

Because of construction on the Clarkson campus, WCKN will not be able to air Peak Moment TV during June and July. Broadcasts will resume later in the summer with new shows on local food production, renewable energy, transportation alternatives, sustainable building, preparedness and psychological, business, and governmental responses to contracting energy supplies.

All the programs are available on the internet at www.wordpress.peakmoment.tv/conversations/ in both video and audio formats.

More than 60 Peak Moment shows are available on DVDs which can be borrowed from the Potsdam Public Library or by interlibrary loan from the collection of shows purchased for broadcast locally.
