MASSENA -- The Rotary Club is hosting its yearly pancake breakfast to benefit charitable causes on March 29 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.W. Leary Junior High. All proceeds benefit Rotary Club community projects.

About 1,600 people are estimated to attend, so Rotary is offering free shuttle rides from parking at Massena High School to the junior high.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, local maple syrup and beverages. Price is $7 for adults, $5 for youth, children under age five eat free. Pre-sale tickets are available at a $1 discount.

“This breakfast is a well-oiled machine,” Rotary Club president Susan Bellor said in a news release. “It’s all hands on deck - and then some - to make this annual event work."

Upwards of 80 volunteers power the event; they include Rotarians, Massena students and their families.

Part of the day's fundraising will include a silent auction from 6 a.m. to noon. Local merchants and artisans will donate items, which will be displayed in the junior high gym.

The pancake breakfast is in its 54th year. Last year's event raised upwards of $30,000 for local causes and organizations.
