POTSDAM -- The Robert J Freego Amvets 282 is celebrating seven years since they were first chartered with the National Amvets Organization.
The veterans group will commemorate its anniversary with an open house on Saturday, Feb. 17, with live music and a pot luck supper throughout the day.
Festivities start at 2 p.m. with music by Ed McCarthy on guitar and Joe Briggs on drums. Everyone is invited to attend.
"We are so excited about what is happening at our Post! Now that we are open from Tuesday through Sundays, people are stopping by to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Our post is growing and thriving! Come check us out and fight that 'cabin fever,’" said Commander Fay Sheldon.
"Amvets 282, along with our Sons and Ladies Auxiliary groups, are in the process of renovating a large additional space to accommodate larger crowds for parties, wedding receptions and family reunions. Our goal is to have the addition ready for our May 19th celebration and honoring of Viet Nam Veterans."
Amvets 282 is located on Route 11 next to SLV Hospice, and is open Tuesday-Sunday 2-8 p.m.
Amvets 282 is open to the public.
