OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum’s next Art Highlights and Tea series will be at 2 p.m. April 13.

The final talk of the 2016 season is “North Country Song,” which will include history and some North Country characters.

Songwriter and artist John Elwood Cook will share his cross-media inspirations between visual art and songwriting.

Cook will build upon his first talk at the museum's tea series in 2014.

Cook is a songwriter. Three of his songs have been considered for Grammys.

He's also a visual artist with deep roots in the 1000 Islands.

“His work evokes the history of his ancestors and their community. He has created an ongoing series of pairings of songs and artworks, with each pair bearing the same title,” the Remington said in a prepared statement. “He approaches one subject, often with humor and sensitivity, through entirely different art forms.”

His work pictured above, “Photographic Evidence,” was part of the Remington 's 2015 Members' Juried Art Exhibit, and is also a song, which is available to hear for free at http://bit.ly/1SD6QDE.

The song will be released on an album by Former Blue Oyster Cult member Joe Bouchard.

The talk is free and open to the public, presented in the museum’s Tiffany Room.

At 3 p.m., tea will be served, courtesy of Doris Whitehead and friends.

The cost is $10 for museum members and $15 for non-members.
