OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Ogdensburg will host the 2014 North Country Wine, Beer and Food Festival Aug. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Aug. 10 noon to 5 p.m. at the Lockwood Civic Center.

“This year there are more vendors signup up including a dozen vineyards,” said Laura Pearson, chamber executive director.

Wine sampling will be provided by Adirondack Winery from Glens Falls, Americana Vineyards and Winery from Interlaken Bella-Brooke Vineyard of Hammond, Coyote Moon Vineyards of Clayton, Hazlitt 1852 of Hector, Otter Creek Winery of Philadelphia, River Myst Winery of Ogdensburg, Thousand Island Winery of Alexandria Bay, Tug Hill Vineyards of Lowville and Vendetti Vineyards of Theresa.

“There will be beer samples from local brewing companies again this year. That is always a popular attraction.” Pearson said.

Craft beer sampling will be provided by St. Lawrence Brewery of Canton, AJ Missert’s of Ogdensburg and A. Cappione of Massena.

Food sampling or products will be available from Applegrove Farm of Mexico, N.Y., Cabot Creamery Cooperative of Vermont, Kim’s Cheesecake on a Stick of Clayton, Maple River Syrup Co. of Canton, Roger Bacon Concessions, Rome Grown Garlic of Rome, Specialtea Teas of Lisbon and Uncle Jim’s Backwoods Goods of Norfolk.

“People look forward to the regulars returning and we’ve done our best to get them all back,” she said.

Pearson said she also expects maple syrup product displays from Parker Family Maple and Maple River, both based out of Canton.

Local artists and crafters include Eye Candy of Ogdensburg, Miller’s Greenhouse of Lisbon, Ogdensburg Command Performances, Rayz International of Ogdensburg and R and J Finds of Gouverneur.

“We are working on things for kids to go this year as well,” Pearson said.

There will also be a raffle for a basket of goodies that will include donations from the many vendors and businesses, 50/50 raffles and a live radio broadcast from 96.7 YES FM and Pac 98.7.

Admission is $5 at the door for adults, $4 for veterans and current service members with proper I.D. and children are admitted for free.

“We typically get over 2,000 people through the doors during the weekend and are trying to grow the event each year,” Pearson said.
