CANTON – Listeners who have never donated to North Country Public Radio have a chance to show their support during a special drive taking place Monday through Friday, Feb. 12-16.
First-time contributions will be encouraged, and everyone will have a chance to win an Echo Plus smart speaker. During the five-day campaign, the station will feature short messages on air and online inviting contributions of any amount.
The station is hoping to sign up 100 first-time contributors during the week.
“NCPR has long had great support from thousands of generous people all across our region,” said giving director Lizette Haenel. “But we know that there are many more friends who have not yet donated, and this is an effort to encourage everyone to be a part of this community effort. We know people value the public service that the station and ncpr.org provide for our region, and we want to make it easy and fun for everyone to be a part of public broadcasting, especially this year, when the station is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Donations in any amount will be gratefully accepted, and everyone we hear from has a chance to win the prize.”
The Echo Plus connects to a voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant service, which responds to the name "Alexa.” The device can be used to listen to NCPR, is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic and other real-time information. It can also control several smart devices acting as a home automation hub.
Anyone who would like to participate can donate via the station’s website: ncpr.org/give or by calling 1-877-388-6277.
