POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will present a chamber music recital featuring works by Russian composer Alfred Schnittke on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Concert Hall.
Special guest artist for the evening violinist Ariane Lajoie will perform alongside Crane faculty members Eugenia Tsarov and Paul Wyse on piano.
The recital will begin with Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonata for Violin and Piano in E-Major," the only selection in the program not composed by Schnittke. Following the piece is a performance of Schnittke's 1963 work, "Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano." After a brief intermission, the recital will conclude with Schnittke's "Fairytale of Inspector General," a concert suite for two pianos. The recital is free and the public is invited to attend.
