MORRISTOWN -- Morristown Public Library is seeking artists for a “Plein Air Festival” Aug. 1 to Aug. 4.
The festival will be a four-day event where artists will “come into the community and paint the landscapes,” said a library staffer.
The general public will have opportunities to watch the artists paint, mingle with the artists at a “meet and greet” chicken barbeque and purchase artistic works at a closing silent auction and reception.
Friday, Aug. 2 participants can pick up a map at the library with a list of painting sites. Door prizes will be available at each site.
The artists meet and greet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Morristown Fire and Rescue Pavilion. “Juggling Josh” will provide entertainment at 7 p.m. Meals will be $8 per person.
The silent auction and reception will be held at The Pony Barn, 2908 St. Hwy 37, Brier Hill, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. Each artist will submit up to three items for public sale. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the evening, and People’s Choice and Artist’s Choice Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
Artists who enter by June 1 will pay $20, late entries will pay $25. For information contact the Bridget at 375-8833 or mtnlib@ncls.org.
