OGDENSBURG -- MOOD (Music on the Oswegatchie Delta) Fest will once again bring local and national musical acts to Ogdensburg.

This year’s bill features New York State Blues Hall of Fame artist Chaz DePaolo as headliner. He also played last year’s event and earlier this year, played a marathon eight-hour show at the Delmar in Massena.

Other acts on tap include Waydown Wailers, Nick LeDuc, Albeit the Truth, Wells and the Gathering, Atom Ghost, The Noncommittals and Bill Clinger. Event organizer Pat Duffy says he is working on booking other acts.

“That’s the unique thing of the event. We’re not just putting a national band out here, we’re getting local people,” Duffy said.

This year’s show will start on July 8, with most of the performances on July 9.

The first day will include an Ogdensburg Key Club talent show and a music business seminar with DePaolo.

“The cool thing is the winner of that contest will open the show the next day,” Duffy said.

He wants this year’s event to not only be a showcase of musical talent, but to encourage people

“Chaz is an educator as well as a rock n roller,” Duffy said. “Trying to not only do music, but promote it as a career. A lot of people think it’s just a few people sitting around and having fun, which it can be, but it can also be more.”

For the Saturday show, a portion of East River Street will be closed to traffic.

“Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. and music starts around noon until 10 p.m. or whenever they tell us,” Duffy said, chuckling.

He wants to bring in vendors.

“It’ll be a block party so we’ll have the street blocked off … we’re trying to get more vendors. We have a lot of space. People can bring a car dealership, boats,” Duffy said. “We have a lot of room … we’re going to improve on the merch area.”

Admission to the Friday events will be free. Saturday admission will be $10.

Those signing up for the business seminar will pay a fee that covers both the seminar and admission to Saturday’s music.

Tickets are now on sale.

“We’re getting a good response already, people are saying they’re coming,” Duffy said.

Tickets are available at http://bit.ly/1Rdqtkz. They will also be sold at local outlets in the near future, he said.
