AKWESASNE -- This weekend’s Mohawk Nationals at Mohawk International Raceway will include the Pete Mitchell Memorial DIRTcar Sportsman Series, with the winner taking home $2,500 in the 75-lap main event plus lap money and other contingency awards. A five-lap dash for cash will also take place, featuring the top two cars from each qualifying heat race and will pay $1,000 to win.
Saturday’s sportsman class race will also feature a pit stop on the track. They will break at lap 54 and the race teams will have 15 minutes to make adjustments to their cars before restarting the race with 21 laps remaining.
The Mohawk Nationals Weekend will get underway on Friday night as the 358 Modified DIRTcar Series invades with a 75-lap, $4,000 to win event lined up as well as the Go Nuclear Late Model Series, with a 30-lap feature paying $1,000 to win and a 20-lap TUSA Mod Lite Canada East Series race. The night will also include a 15-lap sportsman non-qualifier race.
MIR will return to action the following day with another exciting schedule featuring the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series with a 100-lap, $6,000 to win main event, plus the 75-lap Pete Mitchell Memorial DIRTcar Sportsman Series race with $2,500 up for grabs, plus lap money and contingency awards. The Go Nuclear Late Model Series is also on the card with the 40-lap, $1,500 to win Richard Tenace Memorial.
General admission for Friday night is $30 for adults. Seniors discounted admission is $25. Children age 12 and under are $15. Pit admission is $35 for DIRTcar members and $40 for non-members. Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Friday night, with racing getting underway at 7:30 p.m.

Weekend admission packages are available, with general admission tickets priced at $60 for adults, $50 for seniors and $20 for kids 12 and under. Weekend pit admission is $80.
Breakfast and lunch will offered throughout the day on Saturday at Mohawk, and a bull ride will be available for children. Fat Jack’s DJ Service will play throughout the weekend. Free RV Parking is available.
