MASSENA -- An Alcoa program entitled “Mind, Body Soul – Come Alive” will hold multiple workshops during December.
All programs are free and participants will learn new physical or creative activities in an outdoor setting.
An outdoor photography course will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Charlene Dumas will teach an introductory course. Participants should meet at the Nature Center office, next to the green storage building, across from the trailhead. Bring a camera. Snowshoes will be available free of charge, if required.
A winter walking program will be held Saturday, Dec. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m. Participants can register to become a member of the new walking/snowshoeing club. Each attendee will receive a walking log to keep and a pedometer to use for the walk. The club will meet weekly at the Nature Center office. Snowshoes will be available.
The last December event, a guided moonlight ski and snowshoe hike, will be held Saturday, Dec. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Hikes average 1.5 miles. No experience is necessary for snowshoers, but skiers should be experienced. Bring equipment or rent the center’s for $4 per pair.
