HAMMOND -- The Iva Smith Gallery is celebrating this summer the theme of The Sacred Circle in Art, said a press release from the gallery.
Paul Saphier's explorations in Golden Mean composition and Sacred Geometry will be on display along with the works of two featured artists of the summer, David Ellis Rubinson and Hope Marshall.
Rubinson's works combine light and symmetry in luminous, abstract 3-dimensional images. Throughout the summer Rubinson's award-winning short film, “Spin Cycle,” will run in the Gallery's newly-created theater in a horse stall, a.k.a. The-Theater-in-the-Stall.
Marshall's creative world references the beauty and mystery of nature in images that invite the viewer to travel in a space where the rational mind's assumptions are challenged.
This summer the large, upstairs loft gallery showcases the 18 works discussed by art historian Eliot Rowlands in the Gallery's newly-released book, “The Art of R. Paul Saphier.”
A meet the artists event is scheduled for Friday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., musicians Alex Raykov and Alexander Korolov will play Renaissance duets on lute and viola da gamba.
