NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green Concert Series welcomes legendary Irish music family band McPeake local rock band The Debt and the area’s very own Northern Symphonic Winds to the band shell over the next several days.

McPeake will take the stage Thursday, June 16 at 7 p.m.

For generations of folk music enthusiasts, the name of the McPeake Family of Belfast has stood for one of the most distinctive sounds in Irish music

Francis McPeake IV, the fourth generation of this world-famous musical dynasty and one of the few authentic uilleann pipers in the world today, has put together a revived band, 'McPeake', which is unique in the world of music with its fusion of original Celtic compositions and contemporary rhythms and styles.

Each member is an artist in his or her own right. Each has performed with many international artists including Van Morrison, Mary Black, Ronan Keating, Riverdance, John Hurt, Denis Hopper, The Chieftans and more.

The Debt will be featured Sunday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

The band plays classic and original rock and roll and features “the most local of local performers,” two of whom live within shouting distance of the band shell. Its members include Andy Van Duyne, (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Geoff Hayton (guitar, vocals), Jon Hunkins (drums), and Greg Jadlos (bass, vocals).

With special arrangements by Andy Van Duyne, the Debt will add a horn section and an extra keyboard player for this performance.

Dave Alderson, trumpet, Tim Savage, saxophone and Don Canamella, trombone, will join Guy (Chip) Lamson, keyboards to perform these newly layered arrangements that will further enhance The Debt’s already powerful presentation.

Northern Symphonic Winds will perform music suitable to outdoor concerts Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m.

Founded in 1998, the winds is a 46-52 piece wind and percussion ensemble comprised of faculty from the Crane School of Music, northern New York music teachers, other professionals, and selected Crane students.

Scott Lavine will be in the conducting role for this performance.

Admission is free but audience members will have a chance to contribute as “the bucket” is passed.
