MASSENA -- Massena Music Friends, a volunteer association dedicated to raising funds for school music programs in the community, is proud to announce it will host the Orchestra of Northern New York for its seventh annual holiday concert at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16 at Massena High School Auditorium.
The group is seeking support from local businesses and service organizations to help cover the cost of the concert so that all ticket sales will benefit school music programs. This year, proceeds from the concert, which will be used to purchase and repair musical instruments, will be matched by the Massena Central School Board.
This year's concert, Winter Wonderland, will feature the Massena High School Mixed Choir, under the direction of Chris Lincoln.
"What a wonderful opportunity it is for our young people to perform with a professional orchestra," says concert co-chair Carol Pulley.
Donald George, internationally acclaimed tenor and member of the Crane Artist Faculty, is the soloist on a program of popular, sacred and secular holiday favorites.
Sponsorship levels are: $1,000 (aluminum), $500 (gold), $250 (silver), $100 (bronze) and $50 (friends). Donations of any amount are welcome, according to concert co-chair Susanne Daye. Benefits vary according to level of giving and include publicity for the donor and tickets to the event. To receive recognition in the concert's program, on the poster and lobby signage, donations must be received by Friday, Nov. 3.
