MASSENA – The Massena Meals on Wheels radiothon is scheduled for Friday.

About 100 items ranging from gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants, golf packages, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Bear’s Den, and tours of Singer Castle, to 100 tons of pellets will be auctioned live from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday Oct. 5, broadcast on WMSA Radio or 1340wmsa.com.

A morning auction runs from 9 a.m. to noon. An afternoon auction runs from 1 to 5 p.m. The all-day auction items also ends at 5 p.m.

People can call 315-705-2036 to bid throughout the day. Also accepted are pledges and donations at the same phone number.

People are welcome to visit the Meals on Wheels building on 70 East Hatfield, across from Massena Electric. Large boards will be set up at the office, posting name of items and current bids. Everyone is invited to stop by to participate.

“Stock the Pot” will take place on East Hatfield Street in front of the Meals on Wheels building all day during the telethon. Traffic will be stopped to solicit donations from drivers as they pass by.

Massena Meals on Wheels is a private not-for-profit agency whose mission is to provide nutritious meals to the elderly, home bound, sick, and handicapped people in the greater Massena area.

It helps individuals maintain their independence by providing home-delivered meals, five days a week, delivered by caring volunteers who make personal contact with each client daily. One-hundred percent of donations go to the local Massena MOW.
