Massena Library announces May schedule of events

MASSENA – The Massena Public Library, 41 Glenn St., has several workshops, meetings and events planned in May.

Knitting Group meets May 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 6:30-8:15 p.m. This is a drop in group every Tuesday; registration is not necessary.

Saturday Afternoon At The Movies on May 5 will feature a screening of “Simon and Garfunkel – The Concert in Central Park” at 1 p.m.

Massena Artists Association Juried Art Exhibit will be displayed at the library from May 15 to June 2, with reception and awards ceremony May 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Open sewing lab will be held Wednesdays from 1-4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The workshop “Beginner Quilting - Small Quilt Half Square Triangles” will be offered on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon with seamstress Cathlene Hartson.

Saturday Afternoon At The Movies on May 19 will feature a screening of “The Greatest Showman” at 1 p.m.

A salt dough handprint class will be held Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. This activity is free of charge with no registration is required.

The Lego Club meets Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. All children 6 years old and older are invited.

Book Club Evening will be May 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. The selection for May is “Toms River: A Story of Science and Salvation,” a 2013 non-fiction book by American author Dan Fagin. “Toms River” focuses on the dumping of industrial pollution by chemical companies into Toms River, New Jersey, beginning in 1952 through the 1980s, and the epide-miological investigations of a cancer cluster that subsequently emerged there.
