MASSENA – A Massena Kids Tri Youth Triathlon is set for Barnhart Beach in Robert Moses State Park July 9, for young people 5 to 14 years old.
The triathlon is swimming, cycling and running events. Distances vary by age division but are much shorter than adult triathlon events. Organizers say that the main purpose of the Massena KidsTri is to have fun and give kids the sense of accomplishment that results from completing a triathlon.
Participants do not need to be strong swimmers or cyclists to participate. Organizers will welcome kickboards, "swimmies" and lifejackets for the swimming portion and training wheels for the bike portion.
Racing starts at 9 a.m. This race will be held regardless of weather.
Registration fee is $15 through June 30, and $20 from July 1 through Race Day.
All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a t-shirt, goodie bag and a finisher's medal to commemorate their achievement.
People can register and get more info at www.peaksportsolutions.com, or call Josie Hardy at 842-7006.
