MASSENA – The third annual Massena Big Bass Blowout Team Tournament promises thousands of dollars in prizes for anglers Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7.
Contestants will start out onto the St. Lawrence River from the Massena Intake, north of the village off of the riverside road Rt. 131, at 7 a.m. both days, finishing at 2 p.m.
There will be 12 $500 hourly payouts, six each day.
A $5,000.00 lunker prize will be determined by combining the weight of the heaviest fish Saturday and Sunday.
Blevin's RV Center in Potsdam is offering the prize of a 2019 Smoker Craft Pro Angler 162 boat with a 60 hp Yamaha motor with trailer -- retail value $24,084 – for the angler who breaks the New York State record for a smallmouth bass, currently at 8lb. 4oz.

Rules include a requirement to have fishing licenses appropriate to the waters a boat is fishing in, in New York or Ontario, and an artificial lure rule – no live bait.
