CANTON – At the next First Thursday for Kids at The TAUNY Center, participants will learn about the traditions of scarecrows from TAUNY Folklorist Hannah Harvester Thursday, June 2, from 3:45 - 5:15 p.m.
Then Laura Murphy will help children make kid-sized scarecrows (about four feet tall) out of traditional barnyard materials such as sticks and hay, as well as old clothing, yarn, and fabric markers.
Children are welcome to bring their own old clothing if they wish to make a "self-portrait" scarecrow!
The workshop is free and open to children 7 and up.
