CANTON -- The students of local fiddler and TAUNY Heritage Award Winner Gretchen Koehler will present a concert featuring a variety of tunes and styles Saturday, May 21 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at TAUNY, 53 Main St.

Known as "The Madstop Fiddlers," the members range from kindergartners to grandparents, beginners to accomplished players. This event will celebrate the long-standing regional tradition of North Country fiddling and will highlight some of the many fiddling events that occur here each year such as jams, Irish music, community dances, and more.

"The students have prepared a great program," says Koehler. "Come join us in celebrating World Fiddle Day by taking a tour of North Country music traditions with this great group of young kids who are so enthusiastic about sharing old-time fiddle music." Light refreshments will also be served.

This program is supported by the Cloudsplitter Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
