MASSENA -- The Massena Drug Free Coalition, Massena Village Police and NY Counterdrug Task Force will collect unwanted medications Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This one-day event will provide residents with no cost anonymous collection of unwanted and expired medicines.
Liquids and syringes will not be accepted.
“Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting our waters,” the drug-free coalition said in a prepared statement. “Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high - over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, including the home medicine cabinet, and often without their knowledge.”
