MORRISTOWN – Local photographer Bruce Dana recently came across an interesting scene in a field in Morristown.

“I saw there was a deer in a freshly cut hayfield. Nothing unusual about that. However I saw there was something nearby the deer but couldn't see what it was until I put my camera zoom lens on it. It was a immature bald eagle without much of the white plumage on its head or tail feathers yet. That process takes about 5 years for them to grow out,” Dana said.

“The deer was near the eagle and seemed to be interested in its presence but neither seemed threatened by each other. My friend Dylan and I enjoyed watching and photographing the scene for over 20 minutes before the eagle decided to leave. We both marveled at being able to be there see such scene, the timing was great as we happened to be coming by at that time,” said Dana.

Dana is putting together a presentation of his wildlife and nature photos from the past year featuring photos from the here in the North Country and also the wilds of Maine and North Carolina and Florida.

The show is Friday, July 6 at Jacques Cartier State Park Morristown at 9 p.m. There is no admission charge.

This show will be dedicated to the memory of Dana’s son Matthew who passed away last summer at age of 27.

There will be picnic tables provided for seating or attendees can bring their own lawn chairs.

This year the show will be presented in the lower campsites and will be projected on a large screen on the back of one of the parks utility buildings in the large grassy area across from the parks ranger office.
