NORWOOD -- Plans for a Local Living Venture float and contingent at the upcoming Diary Princess Festival in Canton will be held Wednesday, May 18.

The Local Living Venture (LLV) is a small local non-profit community group based in Canton, that is dedicated to sharing resourceful living skills within the community, based loosely around growing, cooking, and eating food, small scale renewable energy, forestry (including woodlots and wood burning for heat and cooking) and "green" building projects. The float contingent will reflect these themes.

The LLV Monthly Meet Up is the third Wednesday of the month, in rotating locations, and focuses on a revolving menu of projects such as bulk food fiestas, where participants cook food in bulk together to take home healthy meals for later, Skill share sessions where a "show and tell" format is featured, and community service projects such as this upcoming event.

This month the group will meet between 5 and 9 p.m., in a "drop in" format, on Wednesday, May 18, to create signs for the float contingent based on skills the group has shared.

The project will take place in the garage and driveway, depending on the weather, at 24 Dry Bridge Rd. The location is kitty-corner to the Red Lobster on Rt. 56 at the southern end of town.

The gathering is a casual setting where all are welcome to join in. Cutting cardboard and making signs with paint and markers will be the main event, so participants should dress accordingly, though aprons will be available. Donations of cardboard and the loan of large size markers are welcomed.
