July 15 deadline for artists to sign up for Nov. Arts Studio Tour, promotion for Canton Remington Festival

POTSDAM -- SLC Arts has July 15 deadlines for two opportunities for area artists.

The St. Lawrence County Artists’ Studio Tour is a weekend-long, county-wide event organized by SLC Arts; artists open their workspaces to the public to demonstrate and discuss their creative processes. This year is the 31st SLC Artists’ Studio Tour, and it will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4 across sites in St. Lawrence County. North Country Public Radio is media sponsor. Any artists living or working in St. Lawrence County may register to be a stop on the tour.

The July 15th deadline is firm so SLC Arts can meet publication deadlines for the tour guide and map which will be available for distribution at the Remington Arts Festival. Artists are asked to join SLC Arts and pay a $65 brochure listing fee.

The Remington Arts Festival is a family-friendly weekend celebrating Canton, as the birthplace of historic figure Frederic Remington. As part of the Festival events schedule, SLC Arts organizes the Art Show & Sale, which features juried vendor booth spaces for regional fine artists and craftspeople to sell their work. The Art Show & Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Artists who apply by the July 15 deadline will have the opportunity for their images to be featured in Festival publicity; there will be a second deadline in September for artists who did not meet the July 15 deadline.

Applications are juried by SLC Arts, and if selected for this opportunity, artists are asked to join SLC Arts and pay a $50 booth fee.

Submissions will be accepted online at www.slcartscouncil.org “Artist Opportunities,” or through slcarts.submittable.com/submit.

Artists wishing to join SLC Arts may read about membership at http://slcartscouncil.org/join-renew-give/.
