MADRID — The final Madrid Dam Summer Music Series concert will feature Josh Barkley and Musical Friends at 6 p.m. Aug. 31.
The concert takes place the Madrid Community Park, with a rain location of the Madrid Community Building. Admission is free, donations are accepted.
Barkley is a senior at Madrid-Waddington Central and has been selected for the All State Jazz Ensemble. He will play for the state legislature in March.
Barkley started playing piano at 12 years old. He has participated in All County Jazz Band for three years and the New York State Band Directors Association Jazz Ensemble for two years.
He shares his musical gift in local nursing homes and churches. He joins other musicians in local bands and in the pit for musical productions. In addition to the piano, he plays the accordion, bass guitar, saxophone, bassoon, organ, clarinet, percussion and banjo.
An ice cream finale with St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess Hannah Grant will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Concessions will be sold.
Intermission includes a "Madrid Moment”which will be a round of thanks those who supported the concert series in 2016.
Parking and admission are free. Donations for 2017 are welcome.
The park is a no smoking and alcohol free park.
