POTSDAM -- The Ives Park Concert Series continues Saturday, Sept. 3, with Wells and the Gathering from 7 to 9 p.m. in Ives Park.

David Wells started his music career in Northern New York playing in local bands while in high school in the Heuvelton area.

Wells started dabbling in songwriting back in those days but would not really become a more prolific writer until after graduating from the Crane School of Music in 1997. Since then, David spent some time out of the area, working and performing as a drummer and as a singer/songwriter with various stops during those years, including Syracuse, Utica, and New York City.

In 2004, David relocated back to the North Country to find musical work playing drums and percussion for area organizations such as Community Performance Series and Northern Symphonic Winds.

He also continued to write and perform as a singer/songwriter and to record two solo records, while working with various other musicians in the area.

In 2014, David hooked up with longtime friend Rik Woodward to begin studio work at Rik’s Studio 37 in Ogdensburg, and shortly after they began performing as a duo act across Northern New York.

While working on David’s third solo record, they enlisted Amber Nezezon and Greg Jadlos to add their talents to the project. It was from there that the idea of working together as a group was born out of mutual respect and friendship. They then made the decision to add Michael Jadlos on drums, and with this five piece configuration, made their very successful debut as a group.

The rest of the schedule is as follows: Sept. 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Caramelo Trio; Sept. 10, 8-9 p.m., Uprooted; Sept. 17, 4-6 p.m., Animal Crackers; Sept. 17, 7-9 p.m., Double Axel; Sept. 24, 7-10 p.m., lineup of local songwriters; Oct. 1, 7-10 p.m., Phil Hurley.
