CANTON – TAUNY folklorist Hannah Harvester will help people get into the holiday spirit with caroling at the TAUNY Center, 53 Main St. Fridayafternoon.
Beginning at 3 p.m., families and individuals are invited to make traditional tin-can lanterns to take caroling.
Lantern making is free and all materials and instruction will be provided.
At 3:30, Harvester will talk about the history of caroling and other winter visiting traditions around the world after which attendees will practice a few favorite carols (lyrics will be provided).
At 4:30 p.m., everyone is invited to take to Canton's streets--lanterns in hand--to carol at local businesses and nearby homes.
The group will return to The TAUNY Center at 5:30 p.m. for hot cocoa.
All of TAUNY's caroling activities are free and all are welcome.
