DEKALB - Enjoy traditional country fun presented by the DeKalb Historical Association at their Fall Family Festival Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their Meetinghouse Museum located at the intersection of U.S. Rt. 11 and East DeKalb Road.

Admission is free.

Children can paint pumpkins, have their faces painted, make scarecrows, and create their own ice cream sundaes all day long.

At 1 p.m. they can watch a ventriloquist make his sidekicks come to life and talk.

Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the festival's music.

Barbara Heller will lead a jam session from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Then the Matune Creek Band will entertain the audience with folk songs and Bluegrass tunes from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Bryan Thompson, the town historian, will lead a guided tour of the museum and the carriage house at 12:30 p.m. The museum is the oldest public building in the town and holds a collection of artifacts that tell the history of the area.

Bring your antique treasures and Bob Law will appraise them for you. He will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a limit of three items per person and the appraisal costs $3 for the first antique and $1 each for the next two.

Alpacas will be penned on the grounds and products made from their wool will be available.

Artist John Miller will paint mini paddles with country scenes and Terry McKendree will carve with his chainsaw. Terry will work from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 3 to 4 p.m.

Booths will offer Adirondack crafts, knitted items, hand-made baskets, teddy bears, and herbal products for sale.

The historical association will hold a bake sale as part of the festival.

The festival is just one fundraising activity held to support the museum, which is open on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
