POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St., will hold a workshop/presentation focusing on the library’s DaVinci HD video magnifier.
All are welcome to attend this free event. There will be presentations June 16 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The DaVinci HD magnifier has many features that allow it to serve the diverse needs of people with varying degrees of vision impairment. Magnification is up to 77 times the original, and users experience high definition color and contrast providing a clear picture with vibrant colors. In addition, the device produces text-to-speech; in essence it reads text aloud.
Many different languages are available. Users can read magazines, newspapers, books, and other printed material. Also, the device magnifies text and images at a distance from the viewer, so it can be used by someone attending a presentation, enabling them to easily see things written on a whiteboard.
Those attending will see a demonstration of the device and learn about its capabilities. There will be a discussion of the possible ways the device could be useful, as well as how users could possibly access it.
Anyone who’s interested can try the device, and there will be time for discussion and questions. Preregistration is necessary to ensure that sufficient room is available for all who wish to participate.
