POTSDAM -- Crane School of Music professors David Pittman-Jennings and Gary Busch perform Franz Schubert's song cycle for voice and piano, "Winterreise," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, in Snell Music Theater at SUNY Potsdam.
“Winterreise” is based on a cycle of 24 poems written by Wilhelm Müller. Schubert composed the song cycle in two parts, each containing 12 songs.
In each piece, the theme of grief is consistent, unifying the individual works into a cohesive whole.
The concert is free and open to the public.
