OGDENSBURG -- The Lion’s clubs of Lisbon and Ogdensburg will provide a whole day of activities for Ogdensburg area residents Saturday, Nov. 17, culminating in the Light Up the Night parade.

In the morning residents can take part in the 24th annual Thanksgiving craft show, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy School, Park St. At least 100 crafters are expected to participate, with wares as diverse as wooden crafts, tree skirts, snowmen, mittens, candy, stained glass, jewelry, furniture and more. Admission to the show will be $3, and food will be available. All proceeds will benefit special needs students.

The highlight of the day’s fun will be the Light Up the Night Parade, planned for 6 p.m. The parade route will run down Ford Street. The parade is intended to emphasize local charities such as Toys for Tots, The Salvation Army, the St. Lawrence County SPCA, the Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, and PJ’s for Xmas. It will feature floats, vehicles, and walking units, as well as an array of holiday lights.

The parade will end with a tree lighting ceremony, followed by a chance for children to visit Santa in City Hall and have their photo taken.

During the festivities, the Elks Club of Ogdensburg will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. to benefit the “Lights on the River.” Dinner will be $7.50 per adult, $5 for children five to 12 and children under 5 will be free. Delivery will also be available within city limits at 393-5430. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Elks Club or through any of the Lights on the River members.
